One of the largest applications I have built was for a multinational corporation with over 15,000 employees located across 100+ countries. As the majority of the payroll operations were based in Amsterdam, there was a need to automatically calculate and generate a yearly calendar that could accommodate the following variables:
- Multiple payroll process steps with two separate installments
- A proximate payment day (e.g., the 25th of each month) that was automatically adjusted based on weekends or public holidays in each country
- The ability to choose the payment frequency
- A T-[day] system that calculates backwards from the established payment day
- Incorporation of public holidays from all countries and regions as required
- The ability to choose the type of weekend or start of the week on a country level
- The ability to select the location where each process step takes place, allowing public holidays for each specific country to be incorporated into that step
- The ability to create additional pay-runs per country
The output of this application included a complete overview of all countries and pay frequencies, containing a date for each process step. The file was automated to require only a yearly update of the public holidays, making it highly efficient. Additionally, the application included a visually appealing calendar on a country/region level that incorporated all of the relevant variables for that particular country. Through my expertise in financial calculations and software development, I was able to design and implement a highly customized and effective solution for this multinational corporation.
I have created and maintained a customized payroll control application in Excel for several companies that includes a wide range of features. Some of the key features are:
- Uploading employee master data from a variety of sources, including HR software
- Uploading payroll input files or manually including payroll input, which can be separated into multiple sheets as input categories
- Supporting dozens of country-specific requirements and calculations that are maintained in a database
- Automatic tracking that visualizes the imported and manually added data
- Various tracking options that can be exported at the end of the month for dashboard purposes
- Importing a gross-to-net file from the payroll provider
- Reconciling all data in a summarized overview with previous month’s data and connecting it with Gross2net
- Using macros to convert data into a format required by the payroll provider
These are just a few examples of the many features included in my payroll control application. Through my expertise in payroll and tool development, I have been able to create highly customized solutions for each client that streamline their payroll processes and increase efficiency.

I have created numerous smart forms that include features such as dropdown menus, checkboxes, and automatic calculations, allowing for easier and more accurate data entry. Additionally, I have connected these forms to databases, which has allowed for the automatic import of data into relevant systems.
